I have recently found documents belonging to my late Father RM2c John R. McAllister. I have 2 Certificates of Presence with a backgroung of the Rising Sun of Japan. 1 states his presence in Tokyo Bay and the other as on board the Sub Tender Proteus. I know my Father was assigned to submarine duty while in the Navy but I do remember him talking about being aboard the Proteus during the surrender and actually boarding a Japanese submarine (I have what he says was the surrendering Sub Captains binoculars) I also have what appears to be an original consist of occupational ships, a menu dated Nov.11,1945 Armistace Day Menu aboard the Proteus along with a small book type document all in Japanese along with what appears to be 3 business sized cards in Japanese. I would like to hear from anyone with any ties to this event and any help with value if any for insurance purposes.
