Have heard much debate on this from many please claiming he is a creation of Gervais and Merchant's.

What does everyone think?

I suspect he's very much like the fella we see on tele and podcasts but with a bit of character thrown in, surely someone cant be like that all the time?

The round head is real though, you cant make that stuff up

Isn't this much like the question of what came first; the chicken or the egg?

On one hand-who cares- but the other hand holds only more nagging questions. Questions such as; why is it OK to eat eggs for breakfast even though chicken is typically served at wedding receptions where the bride and groom forcefully assault each other with cake-not even the same food group.
