“44 And they that believed were together,
and had all things common;
45 And sold their possessions and
goods, and parted them to all men, as
every man had need.” Acts 2, 44,45

This is an amazing verse for all of us, but I strongly beleive that we should show the entire verse to better understand the meaning of why the believers were selling and giving away thier possesions. If you read from verse 43, i think it is better understood.

They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. [43] Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. [44] All the believers were together and had everything in common. [45] Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. [46] Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, [47] praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

Did that help?

Yes! That is really much better! Thank you. As to the substantiation of the ideas of Christian socialism "it is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power." Acts,1,7. Right?
It is just a dream and a hope I guess. This forum is rarely visited. Thank you for your reading and corrections.

Your very welcome! Now lets talk about Acts 1:7. Okay, well the verse is again taken from Acts, a book which strictly teaches about the Apostles and followers/disciples as the other verse lets us understand. The subject of the entire chapter "1" is
Jesus Taken Up Into Heaven. Lets read from verse 3.

3 After his suffering, he showed himself to these men and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God. 4 On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: "Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. 5 For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit."
6 So when they met together, they asked him, "Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?"
7 He said to them: "It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

See, the purpose of this verse it to understand WHY Jesus said this to his followers. Lets go back to verse 6.
they asked him, "Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?" It was not that his restoration to Israel was a secret, it was only that they didn't need to know when. They didn't need to know when Jesus was coming back, if they continued to be ready no matter when. For example, if I keep my body and health in good condition, does it matter when the Doctor is coming to my neighborhood? No it doesn't, because no matter when he comes, I will be ready. Lets go back to verse 7
He said to them: "It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you;

That is all they needed to know. He was going to leave the holy spirit to dwell in them, and keep them as they make more disciples of all nations of people.

Thank you! I just meant to say that just as at that time all is in the power of our Lord now. I mean people need not try to construct that socialism I am talking about right away. They will see it when it is the right time.
