Since 1976, shortly after we moved in, we have had mold in our crawl space. We found the contractor never put an outside drain tile, or tarred any of the crawl space walls. Within the first 3 yrs., we started to see mold on the boxboards, and could smell it in the house. the plastic that was put on the ground, was floating. We removed it, and put in a drain tile (to a sump pump) on the inside of all the walls of the crawl space. Everyone we asked about mold, said to open vents; close vents; get rid of vents. Mold continued to grow until last year(2010) and we had, we thought, enough money to remodel our house and get the mold issue taken care of. We added on to the house, and had our roof replaced, new siding put on the house, put in all new vents to the attic; dug out all around the house and have put in an outside drain tile and had the walls tarred and put a 2" exterior styrofoam to cover the foundation walls; replaced all the old box boards with new ones because of the mold; had the existing mold sprayed, and then applied a sealer on all the existing rafters; checked all the insulation in the walls and found them to be clean of mold.
Over the winter, it seems we have developed more mold than when we started. The existing ground floor in the crawl is cracked and hard.
In the past 7 - 8 years, my husband has been diagnosed with asthma and ephazema. We have to get rid of this problem.
What is the next step from here? Any suggests???
