My 16month old highly pedigreed Bullmastiff Show dog, El Toro, was just diagnosed with "Non-Regenerative Anaemia with mild In Saline Agglutination."

His red blood cell count was 14. On Wednesday 20 April 2011, he received 2 units of blood. This increased the count to 20. The specialist injected him with Erythropoietin 100 units per kilogram. This has to be repeated 3 times weekly.

He is also being given 23 Prednisolone 5mg. tablets twice daily, plus 1 Doxycycline 300mg. tablet twice daily in case his illness was caused by Tick bite fever (Ehrlichia canis PCR).

Question 1: What are his chances of recovery, if any?

Question 2: What are the side effects?

Question 3: Does anyone out there know of anything that could save him? If so please HELP HIM.
