Is there a reason why the Bruno/Carnathan Line isn't mentioned.

Most breeder's organizations have strict standards for a dog's qualification as a certain breed; maybe this line doesn't meet them. So perhaps it's an unofficial breed.

I really think Howard Carnathan would highly disagree. It seems like you need to research your lines better. If you don't know anything about the Carnathan Line, then you don't know your Blackmouth Curs. Howard Carnathan, is the American Blackmouth Cur Association. Did you know, that he once owned the Southern Blackmouth Cur Association? You need to visit www.americanblackmouthcur.com.

I am Howard Carnathan from North-east Mississippi. I Registered the very first B-m Cur Dog in America, in 1976 with the A-R-F Foundation in Quinlan, Texas. Before that time I talked to one dozen of the older B-M Breeders in America--in Texas - La. - Ark. - Okl. - Miss. - Ala. - Ga. and Tn. Then I wrote the very first Breed Standard---Bruno was the first dog to be Registered in several Registries----ARF#01 - PRC #1 - S-B-M-C-B-A A000l, --- A-B-C- ABC01 . Every Breed Standard since that time has been written by using our Standard for a Guide-Line. You can see My Breed Standard in all the other Standards, my wording.
I wrote a MONTHLY Comumn on the B-M Dogs in FULL_CRY from the year of 1984 to 2001---monthly--wrote it every month, or let someone else do it--I invited a few to be written by others.
I've got more writings on the dogs than anyoner---I've gathered up more film on the dogs--treeing contest----Bench-Shows---Hog Dog Catch-and-tie contest - Drag-Races - Squirrel Hunts - Coon Hunts - and on and on. I've looked at more Strains than anyone, and wrote about them. Our Breeders assn has Registered Over 4,000 dogs to this date--according to that Breed Standard that I wrote back years ago. They will always be Registered by This Breeders Assn--We hope they never get into the hands of A-K-C -----U-K-C and N-K-C --These are working dogs--using dogs--we are prepared for the future --For Them To STAY That Way. Look what A-K-C Did to the Irish Setter---once a Hunter----Now a Show Dog Only.
We hog hunt---coon hunt and squirrel Hunt the same dogs that protect or homes and family--the same dogs that find crippled deer for us and work wild-Cattle for us--yet they are gentle Big dogs to mama and the Kidsd and protective.----I am Howard Carnathan at Mooreville, Mississippi---Just East of Tupelo.

My Carnathan Cur may have saved my life; he certainly risked his life for me. He swam to an island in our farm pond to watch over my young son who had canoed there. Then I was threatened by a bull at the shoreline. It was a scary moment, for I had not realized a bull had been put in that pasture, and had not kept myself near a fence for a quick getaway. The bull was very close and was aggressively pawing and I was frightened enough to murmur, "Oh, no." Our Bruno (he looked very much like his famous namesake) heard me and immediately leaped, roaring like a lion, out into the water. Then he swam hard to the shore and kept running until he had slammed his head into the bull's forehead. Bruno's roar and the head butt startled the bull into running for the woods. Bruno then shook off, trotted up to me, sat down, and offered me his paw. He let me pet him, then he swam back to the island where my son was.

I'm sure you hear these stories all the time about your dogs. Our gorgeous Bruno is gone now, but he was an amazing dog and we will never forget him.
