Can anyone tell me if the following is considered bribery and or blackmail. Lets say that there is a volunteer at a non-profit organization who is extremely difficult - he is very disrespectful to other volunteers and staff and he also presents himself as a representative of the agency. The director of the agency received a call from his wife who said she plans on giving the agency close to $3 million (in her will - therefore when she dies) if we were nice to her husband. So, everyone in the agency is to "be nice" to him, in essence - take his nasty and abusive behavior, and allow him to represent the agency. It should be noted that everyone who comes into contact with this person is aware of his behavior - not just inside the agency but also in the community. Is this wrong? Also, because it is felt that this is not a sincere offer, is it wrong to ask that the money be put into an irrevocable trust now? Thanks.
