Baroclinity
Baroclinicity in tropics

Recently, me and some meteorologists have discussed about baroclinicity. The arising question is: Does baroclinicity influence the tropics and even equator region?
My opinion is quite straight. The equator region is definitely affected by barotropy. The unique influence caused by barocliny is constrained around 10º N and 10º S. This conclusion is based only in weather observations, but it would be a good working theme. What do you think? Could my point of view be correct?
