I dont think that women were allowed to act in plays at all until way past the Ancient Roman empire. Women werent even allowed to be in Shakespearian plays during the victorian era.

Thanks, Greacus.

That's my understanding and what I remember of my early Roman Empire subjects in school. I edit books and my favorite author has created a ficticious (sp) woman who was supposedly an actress and I want to be sure of my facts before I break my author's heart. He hates it when I tell him he has to rewrite something. ;-)

What is the name of the book he is writing?
I never did take early Roman Empire subjects. Maybe I will in college. Are they fun?
