At the end of the book Exodus Ari and Kitty are in the barn and Ari finally lets his emotions show and he tells her he loves her. Yes, more than his first love he loves Kitty. He discusses the life they will lead together. I have read this book more than once and always thought they were discussing marriage and did marry. My interpretation of this correct? I recently reread it and it seems Ari loved Kitty from the beginning. He just was unable to tell her. She loved him they finally got it right at the end?

To your first question:

Yes I believe exactly as you do. I think they will get married and she will live in Israel and go through all of the things that the book has already laid out. Just as Sarah did.

To your second question:

Yes I believe he loved her from the beginning but I can not figure out why!! He was Jewish and she was a gentile he didn't know. The characters in the book spoke about how she was an outsider and they could never be together but he loved her in spite of all that. I could see how he would fall in love with her because she was super beautiful and sexy and intelligent just the girl for him but he already loved her from the beginning. I am going crazy trying to figure out why.

I was thinking maybe he having to know everything on the island was briefed or learned about her and then was intrigued and started developing an attachment before meeting her.

Also another thing that plagues me is that there was this thing about him needing her. Was it because he was so hard and he needed her softness as an outlet for his emotions or a strong partner to lean on. I am still not sure about that either. I need someone to bounce this off of.
