At the early age of 21 this french scientist, who was on Bolivar's staff, took over the Observatory in Bogota which had been founded by the Colombian sage Francisco José de Caldas. The Observatory had fallen into disrepair after Caldas execution by the Spanish.
It is believed that Boussingault was surprised and delighted to discover many of Caldas' reports into his investigations and took them with him when he returned to France and became Professor of chemistry in Lyon.

My question is "Can anyone tell me where these papers may have been lodged for safe keeping and study in France?

This request is on behalf of a Colombian historian who is preparing a celebration of Calda' life as part of Colombia's Bicentenary remembrance of their declaration of Independence.
