I was trapped in the heart of the 1983 Ash Wednesday Bushfire on the South Eastern Freeway just below the Eagle on the Hill Hotel shortly before it went up in flames in what seemed like just a matter of seconds.

I was 24 at the time & after all these years I can still vividly recall the nightmarish experience like it happened only yesterday. I have never shared my story, I was just an anonymous traveller, alone & passing through the wrong place at the wrong time.

Were there ever be an historical account of Ash Wednesday Survival Stories to be published, I would welcome the opportunity to document my version of events on that hellish day for posterity.
