As a child, I recall being enthralled by a Prokofiev violin piece that my parents had on 78 rpm LP. (I believe it was recorded by the London Philharmonic.) The piece was dedicated to and performed by violinist David Oistrakh and I beieve was from 1932 (or perhaps that was its debut year).

It struck me as being emotionally introspective and melancholy. I am looking for the name of the piece so I can acquire a newer performance since, alas, the LP is no longer in my collection.
