Are there any photographs of the demolished old Duncan Square near Hackney Marshes in the London Borough of Hackey? It was my ancestors' home until 1945 and I would like to find a suitable photo to use on the cover of a book I am writing entitled "Is There a Duncan Square in Heaven?"

I would also be interested in any photographs of old Duncan Square, as my great grandfather John is listed in the 1881 London census as living at 10 Duncan Square with his wife and 6 children. I would also be interested in you book when available.

I remember my mother mentioning the number 11 in relation to Duncan Square.
She once drew a picture of the square's layout - definitely a square with shops all around the perimeter, homes on the inside and horse stable at one end.
I must look up the 1991 census as I know my grandmother Annie (wife of Albert Edward Emery) was born in 1894 to Joseph and Martha Lloyd. Annie and Albert also had six children, one of whom was named John Edward, nickname Jack. Hoping to finish the book this year and will let you know!

Any luck in finding a photograph of Duncan Square? Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you and the book due to health issues. But, when it is finally completed (I have about 30 years to go!), I will let you know.
