GMO foods need not necessary be cheaper to produce as there are such crops that are nicknamed 'Terminator' where it can only be harvested once and the plant would 'self-destruct' thus farmers will have to plant the seeds again which will cost more money than ordinary plants that can be harvested more than once.

On the other hand, it can also be considered cheaper to produce as it can be GM to be resistance to many things such as pest and harsh weather conditions thus resulting in lower or no waste and 100% of it can be harvested thus it is cheaper can be produced faster.

Since most of the health risk have yet to be discovered, we cannot say that the health have been ignored but to current side effects are that new allergies might be formed or traces of allergies of other food can be found in new food which was not found before.

Currently the developments in the GMO industry is expanding in many ways to meet the demands for other things such as drugs or even plastics and needless to say the demand for more food from the world population.

Agreed! This technology was still under development and the production could be cheaper than ordinary. This could due to the help of this technology had reduced the production cost where genetically modified food was aimed to enhance crops in it abilities to fit for the growing environment. In other words, modified crops would have the abilities to growth well than ordinary forms which could really save up a lot in term of cost and time.

However, the health risk issue was still under considerations where there was still a large of scientific are to be unlock by us. Since such development was not fully done, are we worth to risk our health to take part in this "experiment" ?
