Don't know about buffett middle school, but school in general is tantamount to dropping your kids off at the local cesspool or prison to teach them the unredeeming skills of how to be a "low life". Having raised five children, two boys and three girls, I was horrified at the company and association these kids have to endure! Forget about learning anything except the animal side of surival. There are kids there that will be the next generation of serial killers, bullies, liars, cheats, con-men, politicians and whores. And look at their examples in school, the community and society! It is quite disturbing. When the teachers figured out that most of the kids are cro-magnum and have no intellect or stomach for studies, they summarily dumbed everything down for the avalanche of anchor babies, ghetto misfits, and a generation of kids that refuse to be taught anything meaningful. The rest of the kids who want to learn are perilously affected and have no place to go. Being popular is a trip down the proverbial "land of lost souls", the things they must do to be "hip" is rather cruel. Public education is more about indoctrination than learning. Fortunately, all of my children are decent people, but it was a battle for their souls. One in which I have great sympathy and empathy for parents like you.
