I recently was exposed to a calcium chloride vapor emission test at work. After sitting a few feet from it for about two hours I began to feel a sore throat and a tightening in my chest. I was very tired and rundown feeling all day as if coming down with the flu. At 7:00 pm I broke out in hives and at midnight was admitted to emergency room at hospital with diagnosis of "Extreme allergic reaction to unknown causes", put on IV of Benadryl and released 3 hours later.
Four days off work in extreme discomfort, another admission to emergency room for same treatment, a visit to my personal physician, several hundred dollars in medical expenses and I will be back to work tomorrow.
Is it possible that the calcium chloride vapor emission test caused this reaction? Has anyone out there had this experience? I don't want to cause trouble at work, but sure would like to be reimbursed for my troubles.
