Did you know that Alan Splet was born and raised in Philadelphia. In 1951-1953 his family lived in a row house in the Mayfair section. In his basement, he had already an impressive HI-FI setup. He had built huge speakers with woofers and tweeters. He had a class windowed record studio.

As a boy, Alan was a geek (although that term had not yet been invented). He had very bad eyesight and wore thick lenses in his glasses. I believe that is why his parents indulged him in his audio pursuits.
