The terrain on which the former airfield L. Eleuteri stansd has now come into the possession of the local authority, the Comune of Castiglione del Lago. it remains to be seen whether or not they will open a musuem dedicated to the airfield.

It is interesting to read on this website that the test pilot Colombo crashed two minutes after leaving the airfield in 'Campagna' - described as being in the Campania region of Italy.

What a supersonic flight! Campagna means the countryside in general and clearly he crashed in the fields nearby.
