According to Supernatural, the TV show, the only true way to dispatch a strigoi, or vampire, is by beheading. Is there anything in the literature or folklore to back this up?

On the other hand, the only way to dispatch a striga is by lead bullets. Any support for that?

I know this is a fictional TV program, but one assumes they would research something like this and one would think the method of killing both would be consistent.
