Before, Sindhu and Sauvira (سو ویرا) were two states in the region of Indus Valley. The Sindhu country now is called Sindh province and Sauvira country now is called Saraikistan province of Pakistan. The word Saraiki is after the state name Sauvira (The meaning of Sau-vira is the country of hundred brothers):

Sauvira + Ki (an affix) = Suviraki

By dropping the consonat v and its surrounding vowels in Sauviraki for the sake of simplification it became Saraiki. So Saraiki meaning becomes the language of the region which originally called Sauvira.

There are some other theories too about etymolgy of Saraiki langauage name but the mentioned one is the most probable and linguistically verified.

It is not correct .It is foolish thinking that sauvira is origin of Siraiki.Siraiki word is based on word Sirai.Sirai means Lord .Sirai were ruler of Siraiki land Layya Bakkhar etc .Therefore Siraiki was language of Sirai rulers .So their language was called Siraiki

Sirais are also called Kalhora .Kalhora/Sirai were ruler of Siraiki land with upper Sindh .This name was adopted in this period.Burton used this word Siraiki in his book first time

Second opinion is that Origin of this word is Sira .It is Siraiki word .Its meaning is upper .Because Sirai were ruler of indus valley there fore this name was popular in this valley in the perid of Sirai rulers
