Recently, in second-hand bookshop, the bookseller noting the Jon Norman's in my purchases commented "John Norman - hmmmm - wet dreams for middle age men."
A not unreasonable observation (grrr – a double negative).
Yes I'm middle age, have read many of Norman's works. Enjoy them on a number of levels. I find his meanderings on the submissive nature of women repetitive and after the first few occurrences scan over these diatribes.
I find the women to be the stronger characters in the books; the men, mostly, cut-out figures in the landscape.
