What evidence is available if any, that General Blamey refused to send the 1st Para Battalion to help rescue POWs from Sandakan on the Island of Borneo.
Is there any evidence that FM Mountabtten did want this to take place and Blamey refused?
Does anyone know as to why, given that the Allies did re-take Balikapan and Tarakan. they did not continue on to Sandakan and liberate it and release the POWs held by the Japanese there?
