I have been a auto (and hydroplane) racing since I was 10. I am 60 now. I was at a few Indy 500s but I must say that I never, never saw a more exciting race of any time and kind since my early youth. It is hard to place such a distinction on 1 race since it covers 50 years but this race stands out far beyond any other. To others there is no way to describe to another fan the "high" I felt that day but I can honestly say that was it. Some come close but are diminished in light of the 1982 Indy 500. In the age of the kit car now dominating Indy type (open wheel) racing there is not much chance there will be one. At least I had that one race.
