Long ago, I saw a gangster film where a gunsel type (Elisha Cook or someone similar) having been abused by fellow hoods throughout the movie comes into a room at the end of the film and blows everyone away with a submachine gun. Does anyone remember the name of this movie?

Might have been the prototype for those "going postal."
